Um, I assume you have noticed that it's displayed in SwiftForth's status bar?

SwiftForth supports prefix characters (see Ref Man. 4.3). However, BASE
offers some extra flexibility, including the ability to set it over a range
of source code (more readable, to some, than all those pesky $'s) and the
ability to set it to an arbitrary value (e.g. 18, which I found useful on
two occasions).
