.exe write location?; middle mouse button?

How do I determine where an .exe file is placed? They don't seem to be
written to the directory containing the source.

Has anyone been able to get the middle mouse button event (WM_MBUTTONDOWN)?
No matter how I set the control panel driver options for my Logitech
3-button mouse, the middle button click is always converted to a
WM_LBUTTONDOWN or WM_RBUTTONDOWN
