Block editor

Hi,

   I'm new to the list, but have about 10 years experience with polyFORTH/32 on OpenVMS.
I can't get swiftFORTH's block editor to function properly (reliably is a more accurate word).

   Sequence as follows...

Load in Swift...

EMPTY
Load BLKEDIT package.
CHART WORK.BLK ( created with 60 NEWFILE ...)
GILD

EDITOR 1 LIST
N
etc... all work ok.

EMPTY

1 LIST
   ... ACCESS_VIOLATION

And the dictionary is trash. Is the above GILD/EMPTY valid in SF?
I'm used to our (well no longer 'our'...I don't work there now) polyFORTH's FREEZE/EMPTY sequence.

Next, it seems that the block editor thinks I have 40ish lines/page every so often...
and L will list far too many lines...making the block editor near useless (when it doesn't ACCVIO).

<rant>
I really really really want to plop my money down for swift, but I can't handle coding forth in
text files...If I wanted to swap brains from 'language think' to 'editor think' to 'debug think'
I'd use C or some other useless Compile/Link/Go language. The beauty of Forth's blocks is that
I can keep my brain in Go/Go/Go mode.
</rant>

Thanks in advance,
Blue
