I did understand the distinction between these two methods of creating
standalones. But the addition of the BYE command was not clearly
explained in the manual. Furthermore, that one little addition fixed my
crash problem 100%!! Thanks for that, because I need to deliver the
product soon.

What's funny is that the crash appeared to be initiated long before the
point in the code where the BYE would have been encountered.
