Rick,
_Anything_ I put here without explicit copyright mention, can be distribued to all SF Talk participants, or as you want to manage
it.
Be sure I'm really honored if a few of my work can help a Forth programmer.
Charles

Mike,
It isn't that SwiftForth doesn't know them, but that WINCON doesn't.
Charles Melice has supplied me with the actual source for WINCON.DLL,
and I have compiled it. If he will permit, I will make it available
to this group.

Subject: Re: [sftalk] Debuggers
Watching the thread on debuggers from afar, I must comment.
First, if I had not had a debugger, SwiftForth would not exist. But,
notice that the debugger had to exist before and apart from SwiftForth.
I used NuMega's SoftIce, which I highly recommend to anyone needing
such assistence.
Second, the development of a debugger is a much bigger project than
the entire SwiftForth development effort. NuMega has been writing
theirs, which is the industry standard for all serious non-Forth Windows
programming, for over 8 years. They have a full time staff. Etc. Their
product sells for about $1K. We could, in theory, develop such a
comprehensive debugger internal to SwiftForth, but it would add at
least $1k to even the most stripped-down system we could sell -- and
it wouldn't be finished for at least a year...
In my opinion, if you really need a debugger, buy from NuMega. If you
still want a debugger, please feel free to write one and contribute it
to the community. I'll be glad to help, but I don't have enough hours
in an average day to read the novel that's been laying on my bedside table
for two months...

Rick,
I haven't received anything for a number of days. Is something
wrong?
