Windows API Paradigm

I have been hitting the wall with Programming Windows 95: it does not have enough details of the Windows API and how to use them. So, I have been looking at my Delphi 2 and I found a book called Tomes of Delphi 3 Win 32 API. I am hoping this will enlighten me. I read the sample pages at Amazon to see if it went through the API step by step in a way that Petzold did not due to using Visual C++.

I am bit confused about the Term: Pascal Calling Conventions. I understand a convention. If I study the Pascal Object Oriented language conventions will that help me to understand the Windows API paradigm?
