You might be luckier than you think: here the bookstores are
filled with products trials and you think you are going to learn
something but you really have to buy something else to under-
stand the book.
I have been looking at the Villani book at Amazon.com: There
are sample pages of books so you can get an idea of how it is
laid out and what you might expect to find if you buy it. I really
wanted to understand the Windows API in my mind's eye so I
went ahead and ordered it. If I know the layout of a scheme, I
can feel more like I can visualize it instead of groping in the dark.
