Leon,

I am using the Jedi Visual Components Library for Delphi 4-6.
This started as an Open Source Project that Borland offered to
sponsor. Borland has had a program for Beta Testing and their
Beta Testers were called B Team for years.

Then this other Jedi Group coordinated an Open Source Project
at Sourceforge. Borland noticed them and offered to be their
sponsor. I do not know that they get paid but maybe they get
help and advertisement. From what I have seen, Borland has
included the Jedi VCL into their upcoming Delphi 7 version. I
have not read the reviews yet though.

I had wanted to point this out to the forth groups because the
Delphi groups seem to know how to co-ordinate as an entity to
support their language and also earn their living on their work.

The VCL components have ready made code that you basically
drag-n-drop into your source code as Objects. And, the easy
part for me is that there has been so much code fabbed for internet
applications. http://delphree.clexpert.com/pages/default.htm

Somehow the JCL/JVCL code is useable in Delphi Borland Pascal
and Free Pascal. I have been observing how they are working toward
a re-usable code structure. For instance, in Swiftforth, the SWOOP
Class Structure is not the same as the Win32forth Classes. That makes
it difficult to re-use code. I had suggested that the WinEd Editor be
more flexible or even able to totally detach from the Win32forth so that
it is more of a programmable editor similar to the concept of a Rapid
Application Development IDE.

The Delphi Object Pascal, from what I was told, is used for the RAD
IDEs of the other Borland products such as Borland C++, C++ Builder,
and Java Builder.

I am using it to prototype my design ideas and slap things together
that I really need now. I have planned to start a Similar Project at
the Sourceforge called GOEdit for re-usable code for developers.

This issue has been discussed in previous emails on sftalk and others.
This is a list I discussed with John Peters ( his notes of our discussion):

Forth can get thise idess from other lang
OBJ oriented pardigm.

Visual Tool Bar to automate programming

It will be a tool bar with tabs with each tab is a cat of wind ctrls
1) Basic window reg and creation
2) Menu struct
3) Controls
4) Richdit controlls
5) Other like console window and win sock interfaces
6 ) Other IO
7) Poss immages and multi med
8) Skeletal code so you can put in a as structure.
Then you fill it in with code
Some help files hopefully.
Ea tab and buttons inon the tab will go in to a buffer with a choice where
to put it
Hiarchical structure so they go in the right order Order s/b from left to
right (iorder of tabs)
You will be able to edit the structure
