Most USB devices are not presented as USB devices per se,
but as whatever device class they fit in. For example, a
USB disk drive presents the standard disk drive interface
and the fact that it is a USB device is hidden. Same with
microphones, cameras, scanners, printers, etc.
Certainly these interfaces sit on top of the lower level
USB drivers, but I think those tend to be unavailable to
the application programmer. If there is some sort of
low-level USB API available in ring 3 I'd like to know
about it myself.
