Well, 'twas frustration with gnuplot that got me looking elswhere ;)
Part of problem may be that gnuplot is TOO powerful [ Remember those
that stuck Corvett engines in VW Bugs ? ;]
I started in Scilab to calculate the data to be displayed.
Got far enough to verify *TO MY SATISFACTION* that my approach was
'reasoanble'. Had problems doing 3D plots.
Was reffered to gnuplot. Had problems displaying what I wanted.
Forums for both programs told me "Don't do that. There's no reason to
display that much data." No one asked me WHY I had chosen my parameters ;{
Essentially I wish to graph ~100 layers of 4000 points each.
I *don't* need shading.
I *don't* need surfaces.
I *don't* need lighting effects.
I *don't* need rotation (one perspective will be fine).
I *don't* need even a full wire frame (lines in *1* layer fine).
I *don't* need grids, scales, tic marks, etc. etc. etc. ....
I *do* want zoom & pan.
