Floating Point Within A Dialog

I am trying to validate a user-entered floating point string within a =
Dialog using the flag returned by >FLOAT. This produces a floating =
point error. =20

I have tried feeding a static, valid, floating point string to >FLOAT =
before exiting the Dialog without success. The same code executed in =
the main application, outside the Dialog, produces valid results. I =
assume it all has to do with floating point conversions within a =
callback, but ...

Does anyone know what is going on? I have a very clunky workararound, =
but would prefer to validate before exiting the Dialog.
