Will it suffice if the application opens a console window?

A note for Dennis: I tried your code on my (native)
WinXp laptop (nvidia geforce go 7400) and received
a *black* window which could only be moved very haltingly.
About one second after closing this window, CPU usage
rose to 100% for the core running SwiftForth.
