Re: how to turn cursor on/off

That is correct. But you can turn the cursor off while it is inside
your window.

In the SF consoll you can run:
   function: ShowCursor ( Flag -- Ret )
   false ShowCursor

Now the cursor will be visible outside the SF window, but if you move it
inside the SF window it disappears. I am not even sure it is possible to
turn it off globally.
