I use Linux. I try never to use Microsoft Windows, although for clients
(i.e. for money) I'll use it when necessary.
I am using Debian unstable. I use Debian unstable x86 (i.e. 32-bit) on
most of my machines but I am using Debian unstable amd64 (i.e. 64-bit)
on my main machine. (I may install x86 on that machine as a few things
do not seem to be fully ported/supported yet on amd64.)
Some years ago, Slackware was my main Linux distribution and I am still
fond of it and happy with it, but Debian lets me do full version
upgrades in place while Slackware seemed to require a re-installation.
Also, Debian is a joy from the standpoint of finding and installing (or
uninstalling) available packages.
I use the X11 GUI with GNOME sometimes and with KDE sometimes and
occasionally play with other window managers. Of course I also use a
command line, usually in a terminal program within the GUI.
I hope a Forth, Inc. Forth for Linux (host for SwiftX ?) will not care
which window manager is running.
I use Emacs extensively, so making it easy to use Emacs would be a
plus. At a minimum a few Emacs-compatible keys could help.
