Does Cygwin count?

Red Hat, bash, gnuemacs.

gNewSense or Ubuntu LiveCD and bash, and gnuemacs for "a little" Linux when
a full system is not around and nothing else will do (e.g. image format
transcode via netpbm tools incompatible with cygwin)

I agree that gnuemacs extensions for Forth syntax highlighting, tags,
source cross referencing (like cscope) and Forth sub-processes remains most
helpful.

For cross target development, A useful tool came from a C based Forth that
allowed rudimentary target Forth images from open source cross compilers
available in Linux and Cygwin. This Forth version compiled for an xscale
processor target using Wasabi gcc tools and made a productive hardware
testbench environment until the official firmware appeared.
