Re: password in filename?

There'll always be folks with goofy email clients I guess. Most
versions of Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird and the like will recognize
links flagged this way. I'd be interested to know what kind of client
doesn't work with this.

Some folks ONLY read their email with readers that don't process HTML.
Sending HTML opens its own cans of Coelenterata.

I guess you're left with tinyurl or some solution where you make a short
alias that you resolve on your own server to a longer pathname. You can
see this sort of thing at a number of freeware, shareware and support
sites.

If you send someone to forth.com/authorize to fill in a short form with
a password you can then send them on to their download. If your
download doesn't start within 10 seconds click here.

That's interesting, but I wonder where you got it from. I have been
told by various people to surround the link with exactly "< "
before and " >" after. Mixed results (works for some, but not others).
Also tried "<< " and " >>". Still no go. Then I tried
your version, "<<< " and " >>>" and still people complain that links are
coming to them broken. So I don't think there is a
universal way to coax a long URL through email in "plaintext" without
the possibility that it will get fragged. Send HTML format?
