This is more a comment on Forth in general than SwiftForth in particular.

I'd like to see BASIC-like string functions such as LEFT$, RIGHT$, MID$
and INSTR$ as part of the distribution package. (an optional
wordset/vocabulary?)

It would be icing on cake if a number entered with decimal point was
handled as double with the decimal/binary point automatically in right
place. I'm not sure this is even possible as an optional wordset and
have it "play well" with a standard compliant base.
