>>6. Please relate the 4 things you like the best about SwiftForth.
The long history of discussions in the SFTalk Message Archive, it is a
valuable resource and one I miss when looking at VFXForth for example.
Reasonably good support for talking to the Windows API, external dlls etc.
Reasonably fast for floating point numerics - though at least one
commercial competitor does better than SF here.
>>7. Please relate the 4 things you dislike the most about SwiftForth.
There are plenty of "longer" code examples provided, but this often
makes life a little difficult when trying to understand SF - Windows
interactions from first principles.
>>8. What features would you like to see?
A library of minimalist code snippets for dealing with the Windows API.
Swiftforth was my first real go at talking to Windows and while it was
possible to work through the longer windows examples, some simple single
API calls, eg to GetVersionEx, TextOut, etc would have helped things along.
Some stand alone dialog box examples with passback of numerical + button
input to SF.
A simple set of routines for talking to external visualisation systems,
particularly OpenGL. There are a few examples in SFTalk Message Archive
but nothing "official".
More support for passing of FP values to an external dll, eg OpenGL.
Again, the Message Archive helps, but it would have been good to find
this discussed in the SF documentation.
>>9. What features exist, but don't do what you need or expect?
NA
