drawing a solid line with sharp 90 degree corners

Using Mike Gahn's DRAW-LINE command in drawsimple.f one can draw any line at any angle and any thickness. The line has rounded corners at the beginning and ending. I am interested in drawing a line with square corners only horizontally or vertically, not at an arbitrary angle. The line would have any thickness and be of solid color. The purpose is to display easily-programmed bar graphs.
Can anyone help me on this? Best wishes --- Allen Anway
