This is probably a stupid question, but did DISPATCHER get replaced with
something else recently?
My turnkey code looks something like this:

: WINMAIN ( -)
\ -1 TO APPLICATION
       /APP-CLASS
    SW_SHOWNORMAL /APP-WINDOW IF
           DISPATCHER
    ELSE
        0 Z" Can't create window" Z" Error" MB_OK MessageBox
    THEN
    0 ExitProcess ;
