Heap management in SwiftForth

Does anyone use VALLOC and VFREE? If so, what for? And why not the =
standard words ALLOCATE and FREE? I have long been mystified by these =
words, which are down in the SwiftForth-Win32 kernel, but serve no =
apparent purpose.
