I use vim for all my 'unix-ey' file editing, and can get around in it
pretty well (I especially like the sed-like commands you can run!). Do
you have any extentions for coloring and whatnot (care to share, if so)?
I've noticed on some of my systems vim will come up with syntax
highlighting for comments and whatnot, but I've never bothered to figure
out how it gets configured...
